4 Reasons Why Blogging is More Important Than Ever

Whether you like it or not, blogging is here to stay. Not only does it drive traffic to your website (you have one of those, right?), it can keep your site fresh and relevant – especially to search engines. By posting unique, high-quality content on a regular basis, your site will continually rank higher and make you easier to find. If you haven’t started blogging, now’s the time.

1. Position Yourself as an Expert
Nobody knows your industry better than you, so start simple with some tips or tricks related to your field. The most important thing to keep in mind when you first start blogging is that it should be easy to read and informative. By solving problems or answering common questions, you will position yourself as an expert in the industry. So show your knowledge and market your skills – it will convert to more leads and sales.

2. Boost Your SEO
Blogging is an opportunity to increase your page count, attract new website visitors by targeting some long-tail keywords and provide value to those visitors with a variety of content. Google gives precedence to sites that continually get updated with good content. Not only does good content help your visitors, it gets shared across the internet – which is what Google is looking for. New content gives you more pages that can be indexed, which increases your chances of being found and gives search engine robots a reason to stay on your site longer. If you update your content regularly, it also gives users a reason to keep coming back to your site.

3. Increase Traffic to Your Website
When I said now’s the time to start blogging, I meant it. A recent study shows that blogging leads to 55% more visitors to your website. Remember those indexed pages I brought up earlier? It has everything to do with that. So, if anything, remember this: use at least 300 unique words and post fresh content on a regular basis to get your pages indexed. Not only will this increase the number of visitors to your site, but you will also see an increase of backlinks – or links back to your blog post from other websites.

4. Popularity
Ah, something we’ve all strived for since middle school… who ever thought blogging would be the answer!? The truth is, if you write a good blog post, people will want to share it. The more your blog posts are shared and clicked on, the more you’ll move up the search engine popularity scale. As an added popularity boost, share your blog posts on your own social media accounts for even more interaction.
