Imagine reading an ad in the newspaper that is advertising an item you want, but in order to call the seller, you have to go to another section in the paper to get their phone number.  Sounds silly, but that is exactly what occurs on many websites.  Website authors spend time crafting messages to engage visitors and encourage them to initiate contact. However, the visitors either have to search for the contact information or go to the ever-so-standard “Contact Us” page.  Now there is nothing wrong with a contact page or contact information in the header or footer of a site. In fact, these are staples that visitors have come to expect. But asking a site visitor to leave their point-of-interest can cause the “iron” to cool a bit, or worse, they just leave. If there is a call to action, then it should actually invoke an action that is efficient. Let’s re-write the above announcement…
